Sci-Port presents “Building Better Brains” at Wallette Branch

Building Better Brains
Sci-Port Discovery Center will present a new outreach program, “Building Better Brains,” at our Wallette Branch beginning Tuesday, October 24. The program will be held Tuesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and encourages complete family participation.

The goal of “Building Better Brains” is to inform parents of the importance of engaging with their children and increase science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) interactions within families. “Building Better Brains” promotes family engagement while also fostering a love of science.

Children will explore open-ended programs relating to STEM while parents participate in hands-on training in how to engage their children in STEM. The program consists of six classes exploring how we interact with science in our everyday lives whether that is at work, in the yard, around the house, in the grocery store, or in the city.

Parents and children are encouraged to attend. The classes will be held Tuesday nights, October 24 through November 28, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Wallette Branch of Shreve Memorial Library located at 363 Hearne Avenue. Participation in the program is free and open to the public. Funding for the program is made possible by the Beaird Family Foundation.
