SML & United Way to present Finding Financial Freedom Workshops

Finding Financial Freedom
We have teamed up with United Way of Northwest Louisiana to present a series of financial workshops focusing on home ownership and understanding credit through the United Way’s Bank On Northwest Louisiana program. The workshops will be held at our Hollywood/Union Avenue Branch and Broadmoor Branch.

Bank On Northwest Louisiana (BONWLA), formerly Bank On Shreveport, is an initiative created by the City of Shreveport and a financial stability program of United Way of Northwest Louisiana to help the unbanked and under-banked residents of Northwest Louisiana achieve and maintain financial stability.

The purpose is to break down the barriers of banking and create an easier pathway for residents to enter the financial mainstream. To promote financial stability, BONWLA offers safe and affordable checking accounts and a host of resources to expand access to free financial education classes and one-on-one counseling throughout the region.

This November, BONWLA will host two separate classes at both Hollywood/Union Avenue Branch and the Broadmoor Resource Center. The classes will focus on the paths to home ownership and understanding credit and credit scores. The classes are scheduled for the following dates and locations:

Hollywood/Union Avenue Branch (2105 Hollywood Avenue)

Broadmoor Resource Center (1212 Captain Shreve Drive)

Workshops begin at 5:30 p.m. and are approximately one hour long. All classes are free and open to the public.
