Celebrate the Thanksgiving season at your library

Happy Thanksgiving
Get into the holiday spirit at Shreve Memorial Library! Starting November 14, we have programs at our branches to celebrate the holiday season. Adults can swap recipes and learn how to make biscuits, while children can enjoy storytimes and crafts.

On Tuesday, November 14 and every Tuesday and Wednesday through November 22, our Wallette Branch will host Thanksgiving-themed storytimes and crafts for children. The activities will take place in the branch meeting room, located at 363 Hearne Avenue. Storytime will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thanksgiving craft activities will take place after school from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Adults are encouraged to attend a recipe swap at our Rodessa Branch. The program will take place on Thursday, November 16 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the branch at 10093 Main Street in Rodessa. Exchange cooking tips and tricks to help you create the perfect holiday meal. Participants should bring their favorite recipe and tell a story about it. Copies of the recipes will be made at the branch to be shared among participants.

Join the North Shreveport Branch for storytime, yoga, crafts and Family Fun Night! Storytime and yoga will be held on November 14 at 10 a.m., while storytime and crafts will take place on November 21. Monday, November 20 is Family Fun Night at the branch. All ages are invited to come and learn fun facts about the history of Thanksgiving. Family Fun Night activities take place from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. All programs will be at the North Shreveport Branch located at 4844 North Market Street.

On Tuesday, November 21, our Oil City Branch will host a Thanksgiving Arts and Crafts Program. The activities will take place at 4 p.m. at the branch, located at 102 Allen Street in Oil City. Participants will create pictures from images of things they’re thankful for. Our North Caddo Branch will celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with a storytime and crafts as well. The program will take place on Wednesday, November 22 at 11 a.m. at the branch on Pine Street in Vivian. Children are encouraged to participate.

Just a reminder that all branches of the library will be closed on Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Branches will re-open for normal hours on Saturday, November 25. Happy Thanksgiving!
