Celebrate Winnie the Pooh Day at Shreve Memorial Library!

Winnie the Pooh
Thursday, January 18 is National Winnie the Pooh Day, and we will be celebrating everyone’s favorite honey-loving bear at the library! We’ll be holding three special Winnie the Pooh Day programs for children at our West Shreveport Branch, Cedar Grove/Line Ave. Branch, and Hamilton/South Caddo Branch.

January 18 is National Winnie the Pooh Day because it is the birthday of A.A. Milne, the British author who created Winnie the Pooh. Milne based the character Christopher Robin on his son and Winnie on a black bear who lived at the London Zoo.

For the full story, check out the picture book Finding Winnie: The True Story of the World’s Most Famous Bear by Lindsay Mattack and illustrated by Sophia Blackall (Borrow it from the library here).

During our Winnie the Pooh Day celebrations, there will be a Winnie the Pooh storytime, crafts, photo opportunities, and visits from Winnie and some of his friends! These programs are perfect for children and families.
