Shreve Memorial Library’s mobile makerspace, the Make & Go, is bringing STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) learning to library branches throughout Caddo Parish. This month, the SML Make & Go is inviting adults to learn the basics of sewing and embroidery techniques at workshops at several Shreve Memorial Library branches. Each workshop is free and open to the public, however registration is required as seats are limited.
Adults will learn to use a sewing and embroidery machine to sew a personalized fabric basket during the Make & Go workshops. Participants will also learn basic stitching techniques of embroidery, such as a running stitch, a backstitch and satin stitch, to create their own personalized basket. No prior experience is needed to participate, and the workshops are open to all skill levels.
The SML Make & Go sewing and embroidery workshops are scheduled as follows:
· Tuesday, March 21 at 11:30 a.m. at the West Shreveport Branch, 4380 Pines Road
· Thursday, March 23 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hamilton/South Caddo Branch, 2111 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop
· Wednesday, March 29 at 3:30 p.m. at the North Caddo Branch, 615 N. Pine Street, Vivian
All workshops are free and open to the public, however space is limited and registration is required. Registration for the program can be completed in person at one of the Shreve Memorial Library branches listed above.
