Shreve Memorial Library will present “Mix It All Together Now: No Cook Summer Salsas” cooking program for adults as part of the library’s “All Together Now” Summer Reading Program. Instructed by retired head chef, Jacquelyn Caskey, patrons will learn how to make a variety of summer salsas. The program will be held at Shreve Memorial Library branches throughout Caddo Parish beginning Monday, June 5 through Thursday, June 29. This program is free and open to library patrons, ages 18+. Registration is not required to attend.
Jacquelyn Caskey, a Shreveport native, worked in the local food industry for 38 years. She began her career as an apprentice under Shorty Lenard and Dietmar Molitar before opening her own restaurant in 1983. She and her late husband, Jimmy, enjoyed success in creating the menu and recipes for their restaurant, Jacquelyn’s Café, before selling and retiring in 2019.
During “Mix It All Together: No Cook Salsas,” Jacquelyn Caskey will teach participants how to make an avocado mango salsa and a 15-minute black bean salsa.
