Plans are currently underway for the Shreve Memorial Library Children’s Book Festival to be held Saturday, May 2 on the beautiful campus of LSU Shreveport. The literary event will feature famed children’s authors, local authors and illustrators of children’s books, fun games and activities for kids, and delicious food. Local children’s authors, illustrators and community groups are invited to be a part of the festivities.
Local authors and illustrators are encouraged and invited to participate in the Children’s Book Festival by reserving a 10’x10’ booth space to promote and sell their works and publications. Booth spaces are available for $25 each and include listing in the Children’s Book Festival Guide, table and chairs. Community groups, organizations and businesses are invited to join Shreve Memorial Library in Literacy Lane, a special area of the Children’s Book Festival where community partners will come together to promote a love of reading and lifelong learning in a fun, interactive way. Organizations are encouraged to sign up for a free booth space to provide a FREE activity or game for children and festival attendees. The deadline for reserving both author booths and Literacy Lane spots is Friday, April 17, 2026.
The Shreve Memorial Library Children’s Book Festival, presented in memory of John Tuggle, is set for Saturday, May 2 with an all-star lineup of children’s book authors and illustrators. The festival will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the campus of LSU Shreveport. Admission to the festival is free. Festivalgoers will be able to meet children’s authors up close and in person at festival tents, have their books autographed, and see each author bring their stories to life on stage. Featured authors for the event include:
- Lincoln Peirce, cartoonist and creator of the Big Nate comic strip and author and illustrator of the New York Times bestselling novel series Big Nate and Max & the Midknights.
- Shauna J. Grant, cartoonist and creator of the early reader graphic novel Mimi series and Karen’s Prize: A Graphic Novel and Karen’s Surprise: A Graphic Novel, both part of the Baby-sitters Little Sisters graphic novel series.
- Stacy McAnulty, former mechanical engineer turned award-winning children’s book author of more than forty published books including The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl and the Our Universe series.
- Tad Hills, #1 New York Times bestselling author and illustrator of the Rocket and Duck & Goose picture book series.
- Tae Keller, Newbery Award-winning and #1 New York Times bestselling author of When You Trap a Tiger, When Tomorrow Burns, and We Carry the Sun.
