Shreve Memorial Library is offering a series of free workshops throughout the month of September. The public is encouraged to come and learn how to become more efficient using Google Drive and Google Docs, how to protect themselves from internet fraud, and how to refresh their resume. The workshops will take place at 10:00 a.m. each Thursday of the month in Technology Center at Shreve Memorial Library Hamilton/South Caddo Branch, 2111 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. Registration is required, and all participants must adhere to the CDC and state mask mandate.
The workshop series kicks off on Thursday, September 9, with the “Learn the Basics of Google Drive” workshop. Participants will learn how to store and share files in Google Drive, and discover how Google Drive keeps files safe and secure. They’ll practice using their drive and receive tips about how to keep it organized.
“Learn the Basics of Google Docs” workshop will take place on Thursday, September 16. In this workshop, participants will create a Google Doc, share it with others, and learn to use editing and suggestion mode as well as leave comments during a discussion and practice session.
Learn to identify and protect yourself and your personal information from online scammers on Thursday, September 23. During the “Protect Yourself from Online Scams” workshop attendees will learn about three real-life online scams and the techniques scammers commonly use to access sensitive information. A discussion on how to understand what online scams are, identify scam warning signs, and learn best practices for keeping information safe will also take place.
The Grow with Google Workshop series will wrap up on September 30 with the “Improve Your Resume with Practical Strategies” workshop. In this workshop, participants will learn how to make their resume stand out and communicate their strengths. Attendees will compare different resume styles, implement four strategies to improve a resume, and make a resume more attractive to hiring managers.
