LSU Health Shreveport and Shreve Memorial Library are working together to bring valuable healthcare information to residents of Caddo Parish. Beginning Thursday, August 7, LSU Health Shreveport Librarians will visit Shreve Memorial Library branches throughout Caddo Parish to lead “Fact-Checking Health Information: Tools You Can Use” information sessions designed to help citizens navigate the overwhelming field of healthcare information. Sessions will be held monthly through April 2026, and all sessions are free and open to the public.

Understanding healthcare information can be confusing and overwhelming. “Fact-Checking Health Information: Tools You Can Use” will provide essential discussions on the importance of fact-checking health information to empower attendees to make informed decisions about their health. The sessions will also provide practical tools, tips and techniques to find reliable information on health-related topics such as medications and symptoms. Participants will learn to use tools such as the NIH Know the Science website, how to determine real information from fake information, and about the trusted resources for health information provided by Shreve Memorial Library.

Each session will last approximately one hour. Registration is not required to attend. Sessions are scheduled as follows:
