Children's Programs

Below you’ll find a list of regular Children’s Programs happening at Shreve Memorial Library. Many of our branches offer regular storytimes each week. We encourage you to bring your children to the library and sign them up for their own library card. Early literacy is very important for children and we’ve made it our mission to help prepare Caddo Parish children for school and life.

Atkins

• Toddler Time (ages 0-5 years old):  Tuesdays at 11am
• After School Program (ages 6+): Thursdays from 3:00pm to 5pm  

Broadmoor

• Baby Bounce (0-15 months): Thursdays @ 10am
• Saturday Story Time (0-5 years old): Saturday @ 10am
• Preschool Story Time (0 – 5 years old): Wednesdays @ 10am
  
• Homeschool Explorers (6-11 years old): Wednesdays @ 2pm
• Elementary Explorers (6-11 years old): Wednesday @ 4:30pm

Cedar Grove/Line Ave.

• Storytime: (Ages 0-5)  1st & 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 10:30 am. Bring the little ones for a few stories, songs, and a craft or activity! \
• Playdough Playtime: (Ages 0-5) 2nd Saturday of the month at 2:30pm. Kids can squish, roll, and create while exploring letters, numbers, and stories!
• Elementary Fun: (Ages 6 -11) 1st Thursday of the month at 3:30 pm. From building robots to mixing slime creations, we explore all aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math! Let’s learn something new!
• Art Start: (Ages 6-11) 3rd Thursday of the month at 3:30 pm. Join us as we explore different art styles and techniques and make your very own creation!
• Family Game Day: (All Ages) 2nd Thursday of the month at 3:30 pm. Families can enjoy different board games and card games together.

David Raines

• Storytime Stars: Thursdays at 10:00AM (Ages 3-5).
• Creative Corner: ALL Things STEAM, Merging art and science - 2nd Tuesday of each month. 4PM-5PM (Ages 6-11)
• S.T.E.A.M. Along Saturdays: Art, Science, Engineering, Math, Technology, Fun! 2nd Saturday of each month from 2PM - 3PM (ALL Ages).

Hamilton/South Caddo

• Maker Factory: Meets on the first Saturday of the month at 11AM. (Ages 6-11)

• Magical Math: Meets on the third Saturday at 11AM. (Ages 6-11)

Hollywood/Union Ave.

• Little Adventures Storytime: (ages 0-5) - Every Wednesday at 10AM, Interactive, early literacy Storytime.
• Read, Sing, Dance Storytime (ages 0-5) - Every Wednesday at 10AM
• Children’s Zone (ages 5-10) - Every third Saturday at 2PM 
• Mixed Mondays (ages 5-10) - Enjoy art, math, reading, Legos and other activities on Every Monday at 4:30PM
• Creative Minds: (ages 6-10) - Every Monday at 4:30PM, Enjoy art, math, reading, Legos, and other activities.

• Craft for Kids: Every Wednesday at 4PM.

Mooretown

• Mo Mo Mo: Every Monday at 3pm to 4pm, come enjoy some movies, games, and more!
• Movie time! (ages 11 and under): Every fourth Monday, enjoy an age appropriate movie from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
• Read me a story! (3-5): Every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
• Saturday Storytime (ages 3-5) : Every fourth Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
• Video Games & Board Games: Every Friday from 3pm to 4pm.

North Caddo

• PeaPods Storytime (newborns to 4 years old) - The first and third Wednesday of the month at 11 a.m.
• Imagineers (STEAM program for ages 5-10) - Monday at 4 p.m.
• Family Movie Matinee (Rating Range from G to PG-13) – Saturday at 2 p.m.

North Shreveport

• Storytime (Ages 0-5): Every other Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
• STEM & Sensory Play Hour (Ages 0-5): Every other Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
• North Shreve Homeschool Program (Ages 6-11, but all homeschoolers are welcome): Every 2rd Friday at 10:00 a.m.
• Make and Take Craft (Ages 6-11): Once a month on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. (see calendar for date)

Wallette

• Storytime: Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.

West Shreveport

• Preschool Story time: 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month @ 11AM-12PM
• Lady J and the Scholars Story Time: 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month @  4:45PM-5:45PM
• Don’t Stress Play Chess Club: 2nd & 4th Friday of each month @ 4:45PM-5:45PM

The following branches will also do drop-in storytimes by request:  Belcher-Wyche, Blanchard, Gilliam, Higginbotham-Bryson, Hosston, Means, Mooringsport, Oil City, Rodessa
